About the Role

We're looking for an experienced AI Engineer to develop, enhance, and operate AI-driven applications. The role carries a strong DevOps focus: alongside implementing high-performance backend services, you'll keep the existing systems healthy, optimized, and straightforward to release.

The environment is made up of API-based AI services, microservices, and the infrastructure around them, including automated CI/CD. You'll work the whole path from code to production, containerizing applications, maintaining Jenkins pipelines, deploying onto OpenShift and Kubernetes, and digging through logs and runtime behavior when something misbehaves.

You'll collaborate closely with the development, infrastructure, and frontend teams, contribute to architecture and technology decisions, document your work in Confluence, and estimate and plan tasks in Jira.

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, and enhance REST-based AI services.
  • Implement backend functionality using Python.
  • Develop, integrate, and maintain microservices.
  • Connect external systems and a variety of data sources.
  • Ensure code quality through automated testing and code reviews.
  • Containerize applications using Docker or Podman.
  • Build, enhance, and maintain Jenkins-based CI/CD pipelines.
  • Deploy and operate applications on OpenShift and Kubernetes platforms.
  • Automate build, test, and release processes.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot issues spanning multiple system components.
  • Evaluate log data and monitor application runtime behavior.
  • Keep applications maintainable, scalable, and performant.
  • Collaborate closely with development, infrastructure, and frontend teams.
  • Contribute to architecture, design, and technology decisions.
  • Create technical documentation in Confluence, and estimate and plan tasks in Jira.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong, hands-on experience in software development with Python.
  • Experience designing and implementing REST APIs.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker or Podman.
  • Proficiency with Git.
  • Experience working with Jenkins-based CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Nice to have: German language skills.
  • Nice to have: experience with Bash scripting.
  • Nice to have: knowledge of OpenShift and/or Kubernetes.
  • Nice to have: experience with GitLab CI/CD.
  • Nice to have: experience with FastAPI.
  • Nice to have: experience with microservice architectures.
  • Nice to have: basic knowledge of Kafka and Redis.
  • Bonus: experience with SonarQube, Nexus IQ, Jira, Confluence, OpenSearch, or Dynatrace.
  • Bonus: basic understanding of AI and machine learning concepts.

What We Offer

  • Remote-first: work from anywhere in Serbia. The Belgrade office is optional.
  • You'll work alongside engineers with 5–15 years of experience. No babysitting, just craft.
  • Top-of-market salary for Serbia, paid in EUR, reviewed annually and tied to your impact.
  • €1,500/year learning budget for conferences, courses, and books.
  • 25 days PTO, flexible hours, and a culture that respects your time outside work.
