Engineering Lead / Tech Lead
Lead · Remote · Full-time
About the Role
Lead a cross-functional engineering team embedded with a client. You'll own technical decisions, mentor engineers, and be the bridge between product requirements and technical delivery, the person both sides trust to keep a project honest.
You'll set technical direction and architecture for the team's work, review and unblock your engineers, and translate business priorities into a delivery plan that actually holds up. Expect regular, direct communication with client stakeholders. This is not a role hidden behind a PM.
We're looking for someone who's led before and knows the difference between managing tickets and actually moving a team forward: protecting quality, calling out risk early, and keeping a steady operating rhythm.
What You'll Do
- Own technical architecture and delivery for a cross-functional engineering team embedded with a client.
- Mentor and grow engineers on the team, including code review and technical 1:1s.
- Translate product requirements into a realistic technical roadmap and delivery plan.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for client stakeholders.
- Identify and de-risk technical debt, architecture gaps, and delivery bottlenecks before they become fires.
- Set and uphold engineering standards, code quality, testing, and release practices, across the team.
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of engineering experience, including 2+ years in a lead or tech-lead capacity.
- Proven experience owning architecture decisions for a production system, not just contributing to one.
- Strong track record mentoring engineers and running effective code review.
- Comfortable communicating directly with client stakeholders, including non-technical ones.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Experience with dedicated/embedded team engagements is a plus.
What We Offer
- Remote-first: work from anywhere in Serbia. The Belgrade office is optional.
- You'll work alongside engineers with 5–15 years of experience. No babysitting, just craft.
- Top-of-market salary for Serbia, paid in EUR, reviewed annually and tied to your impact.
- €1,500/year learning budget for conferences, courses, and books.
- 25 days PTO, flexible hours, and a culture that respects your time outside work.
